An ancient culture turned new - BODY PIERCING

Body piercing, a form of body modification, is the practice of puncturing or cutting a part of the human body, creating an opening in which jewellery may be worn.

Ample evidence exists to document that it has been practiced in various forms by both sexes since ancient times throughout the world.

Lip piercing and eyebrow piercing have been particularly widespread and are well represented in historical records and among grave goods. The oldest mummified remains ever discovered were sporting earrings, attesting to the existence of the practice more than 5,000 years ago. Nose piercing is documented as far back as 1500 BC Piercings of these types have been documented globally, while lip and tongue piercings were historically found in African and American tribal cultures. Nipple and genital piercing have also been practiced by various cultures, with nipple piercing dating back at least to Ancient Rome while genital piercing is described in Ancient India ca. 320 to 550 CE

Records do exist that refer to practices of nipple and genital piercing in various cultures prior to the 20th century. Kama Sutra, dated to the Gupta Empire of Ancient India, describes genital piercing to permit sexual enhancement by inserting pins and other objects into the foreskin of the penis. The Dayak tribesmen of Borneo passed a shard of bone through their glans for the opposite reason, to diminish their sexual activity.

REASONS FOR PIERCING

Reasons for piercing vary greatly. A 2001 survey in Clinical Nursing Research, an international publication, found that 62% of people who pierced had done so in an effort "to express their individuality." People also pierce to commemorate landmark events or to overcome traumatic ones. According to the assistant director of the Frankfurt University Teaching Hospital for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy, some sexual abuse survivors choose body piercing as a means of "reclaiming body parts from memories of abuse". Piercing can also be chosen for simple aesthetic value, to highlight particular areas of the body, as a navel piercing may reflect a woman's satisfaction with the shape and condition of her stomach. Some people pierce, permanently or temporarily, to enhance sexual pleasure. Genital and nipple piercings may increase sexual satisfaction. Some people participate in a form of body play known as play piercing, in which piercings may be done temporarily on the genitals or elsewhere on the body for sexual gratification.

Female body piercing refers to female genital piercing and there is a dozen of known variations to it.
However, there are a few main types of female body piercing and the rest are quite rare including some extremely rare female genital piercings like hymen piercing.
So here are the most popular female body piercing types sorted.

CLIT PIERCING

This is what you’d hear most often when someone talks about female body piercing. For example, you’d hear that Christina Aguilera has her clit pierced. However, most likely that they’re talking about the clitoral hood piercing.
You see, the horizontal hood piercing is maybe the most popular of female body piercings. And the funny thing is that men don’t always know the opposite gender’s anatomy well enough to differ between the clitoral hood and the clitoris itself. You think it’s crazy? Well, sadly it’s true!
But generally we should understand that when someone talks about clit piercings, it’s a simplified way of referring to female body piercing in general.
But, of course, true clit piercings are performed and if the girl has this body part large enough – why not?
Variations of the clit piercing:
null Vertical hood piercing – usually a curved barbell used.
null Triangle piercing – usually a ring used.
null Christina or Venus piercing – usually a surface bar or a curved barbell used.

LABIA PIERCING

This type of the female body piercing is exactly what it says – either the outer or the inner labia are pierced. Or both! Or multiple times!
The outer labia tend to heal longer than the inner one because the piercing has to travel through a lot of tissue and the healing may take up to 2 – 3 months. However, the inner labia piercings heal very fast – like the horizontal hood piercings.
A variation of a labia piercing is Fourchette piercing – usually a curved or straight barbell is used to insert into this female body piercing which is performed at the bottom part of the vagina.
Piercing came into our lives many years ago, but I still remember this passionate interest, this desire to pierce at least something. Piercing is and always has been one of the most disputable questions in the beauty industry. To pierce or not to pierce, this question has been puzzling a lot of heads. Since this action has a lot of supporters and opponents, I would like to find out why.
First of all, piercing is a special practice when some part of your body is pierced, in order you to be able to wear jewelry there. Nowadays (apart from various religious meanings) people adore piercing almost all parts of their bodies, to look poked and prodded, and it is all about fashion. I must confess, sometimes body jewelry can really look great and emphasize your own style, a single belly pendant can become a main point of attraction of your body, but it can become your’s Achilles heel as well.
What I am talking about? Yeah, about all these too-boring-to-be-true stories of people, who had awful and painful aftermaths after piercing their bodies. Please, remember, pierce your body only if it is your own and sober decision (and not a riot against the world or your parents!), choose only high quality body piercing jewelry and read the following points:
  • May be it sounds even more boring that the previous statement, but the safest way of piecing is ear piercing (actually, I don’t mean a row of piercing that extends along your ear).
  • Facial piercing is the most noticeable type of piercing and to my mind nose jewelry looks definitely better than eyebrows and lips full of various pendants. But remember, many companies strictly forbid their workers to show their “beauties”  to clients while on the job.
  • While making a body piercing keep in mind, once you will want to remove the jewelry, a tiny scar can remain and stay with you for a long time, and even always.
  • The last point to view – piercing can be dangerous and bring on a skin infection.
So, just think about it and make the right decision, anyway, I think, if to find reliable and highly-qualified master, everything will be fine and your body will look delicious!
